1. Challenge
  While Hatfield was experiencing success and doing well, it wanted to make long term improvements that would help the company "sharpen its edge" and remain competitive.
     
2. Findings
  Common communication and educational shortcomings were directly impacting profitability
     
  The managers needed ways to interact with their teams on a daily basis to ensure information was conveyed from top to bottom throughout the company
     
  Many managers lacked the basic techniques for analyzing daily production statistics
     
3. Goals
  Change the culture of the company and strengthen its overall performance
     
  Get management to take greater ownership of each department and have employees and managers working together to achieve common goals
     
4. Recommendations
  Teams participate in open meetings and workshops to exchange ideas, develop uniform guidelines and learn standards
     
  Initiate huddle meetings at the start of each shift so that teams can discuss goals and objectives on a regular basis.
     
  Put visual communication boards in prominent areas to track production statistics
     
5. Results
  Conquered barriers to production and realized substantial savings and yield increases
     
  Dramatically reduced the numbers of missed or delayed shipments
     
  Managers now take charge of their positions by setting expectations, fostering accountability and working to drive performance
